Course participants will learn about the signs and symptoms of the common and disabling mental health problems, how to provide initial help, where and how to get professional help, what sort of help has been shown by research to be effective, and how to provide first aid in a crisis. Participants who complete this training will receive a copy of the Standard MHFA Manual to keep and a Certificate of Completion. The MHFA certificate is valid for 3 years.

All attendees must be over the age of 18 at the time of the course. Please note that this program covers a range of sensitive topics, it is strongly advised if you are not feeling robust at present to consider completing this program at a time of improved health and wellbeing. Some topics may cause distress for some participants.

The training will be facilitated by the Career Development Centre’s head trainer and counsellor, Tina Winchester, who is an accredited Mental Health First Aid instructor.
